Bring Your Own Device Setup

This procedure prepares your child’s laptop for Elizabeth College by installing required software and preparing it to connect to Elizabeth College’s WiFi and printers. You can enrol your device from anywhere as long as it has a connection to the internet.  

Please ensure that your child’s BYOD device is enrolled before the start of term. If you have any trouble enrolling the device please contact Elizabeth College IT Support by emailing itsupport@elizabethcollege.gg.

To make the process easier we have produced a tool ("BYODCheck") that will walk you through this process by checking all prerequisite requirements are met, making minor changes if necessary, and installing any required software. The tool runs in stages, reporting progress as it runs. Please ensure that you have saved any work prior to running the tool as the tool may restart the device without warning. You may need to run the tool several times until all checks report as passed.

You will need:

  • Your laptop, logged in with a personal account (You should not logon to the laptop itself with your EC username and password, you must log onto the laptop using a personal email before enrolling it). It is important the account isn't locked down with parental controls otherwise apps will fail to install.
  • Your Elizabeth College login details

Enrolment Process:

  1. Click the link to the BYODCheck.exe tool below to begin downloading it to your computer.
  2. Once it has finished downloading, double click the downloaded file to open it, alternatively if it isn't visible, open your downloads folder, find the BYODCheck.exe file and launch it by double clicking it.
  3. Once it has launched, read the brief instructions then click "Start" to begin the enrolment process.
