All College students are given the opportunity to prepare for the Higher Tier Mathematics IGCSE at the end of Y11.  Some will choose to sit the Foundation Tier Mathematics IGCSE instead and some will additionally sit the FSMQ (Additional Maths). See below for details.

Sets MHx: Higher Tier Mathematics IGCSE

Students in these sets follow the Edexcel International GCSE (9-1) Mathematics A course using the recommended textbooks published by Edexcel/Pearson. These are provided online.

Students sit the Higher Tier examination in the summer of Y11 at the same time as their other GCSEs.

For information on the course and relevant resources please go to IGCSE Mathematics A 2016.

MAdd: Mathematics IGCSE with FSMQ (Additional Maths)

This set follows an accelerated programme leading to sitting the Mathematics IGCSE and possibly a further Additional Mathematics qualification (the FSMQ) at the end of Year 11.

All students will sit the Higher Tier IGCSE examination in the summer of 2023 at the same time as their other GCSEs. Those sitting Additional Mathematics will also take that examination in the summer of 2023.

For information on the courses and relevant resources please go to IGCSE Mathematics A 2016 and FSMQ (Additional Maths).

Set MF: Foundation Tier Mathematics IGCSE (Y11 only)

A small, dedicated Foundation Tier IGCSE set is created at the start of Y11. Students are selected based on the Y10 Trinity examination, unit tests and teacher evaluation. Parents and students are involved in making the decision. The students follow the Edexcel International GCSE (9-1) Mathematics A (Foundation) course.

We have designed the course to help ensure all the students will gain at least a grade 4 in Mathematics while also supporting them in achieving at a higher level if possible.

During Y11 these students will focus on continuing to master the core skills needed at Foundation. They will sit the Foundation Tier examination in the summer of Y11 at the same time as their other GCSEs.

For information on the course and relevant resources please go to IGCSE Mathematics A 2016.
