What a time to get some practice done!

This is a great opportunity to do some practice, so please don't forget to build it into your daily plan.  Here is a practice log. It is designed to help you keep focused and give you some topics to discuss with your teacher via email/online lessons.  It has space for 7 days worth of practice (in my mind that's a week!)

Suggested weekly instrumental practice:-

  • Send at least 1 piece a week you have been working on to your teacher’s email address for them to feedback on
  • Work on at least 1 page of theory from the online resources and email it to your teacher for feedback
  • Use the other online resources to support your group playing

We have also been working on ways of bringing Music Centre Pupils together in ensemble settings. We are currently in the process of putting together virtual ensembles for the Liberation Day church service and have already had a great response to some of the videos we have posted on our Facebook page:-

A letter from the Music Service including contact details

Dear Parents and Carers,

In light of the most recent advice from the Director of Public Health that schools will be closed from Monday 23rd March for an extended Easter holiday period, I am writing to give advice to our pupils regarding their instrumental practice and continued musical learning during this period.

All pupils will have pieces that they are currently working on for graded examinations or from tutor books.

It is our advice that they continue to work on these pieces and where appropriate they should also work on scales and sight reading practice. It would also be beneficial to remind themselves regularly of any ensemble pieces from school or Music Centre.

During this period, if you or your child should have any specific queries about their instrument or pieces they are working on then I am attaching below email addresses of the Music Service team.

If you have any administrative queries please direct them to my email addresses – tim.wright@education.gg or tim.wright@gov.gg as the Music Service email (music service@gov.gg) will only be accessed intermittently.

I hope you all stay well in this extended break and that over this time your child will be able to enjoy their music making.

With best wishes,

Tim Wright
