As you begin Y9 Music you should take stock of the following:

BE AWARE OF SOLFA

KNOW THE PENTATONIC SCALE used throughout Y7 & 8 at College

It would be best to have access to some kind of instrument (acoustic/electric/digital) on which you are reasonably confident to try out and present musical ideas and melodies.

Some help for the theory that  is covered:

Moveable doh:

This C Major scale starts on doh. The brackets mark the semi-tones

This G Major scale starts on doh, and will sound the same as the scale above, but is pitched a perfect 5th higher.  The solfa stays the same, the letter names change to ensure that the semi-tones are in the correct place

Minor scales are built on LA (also moveable)

This A natural minor scale starts on la.  Note that the semi-tones remain between t-d and m-f (after an 'i/ee' sound)

This E harmonic minor scale also starts on la. Notice the additional semi-tone created when the leading note rises (so becomes si).
