This sheet was given to you on Thursday 29th or Friday 30th September

The first night of the homework project is Monday 2nd October

The hand in is P6 on Monday 9th October

You are expected to pop in to the library at any time during the week.

Those of you who pop in at the start of the week when you are researching your task will probably find it most useful.

The pages below could help you to decide what to research about your chosen area of environmental protection. On each page are some key ideas, some links and some articles from Catalyst Magazine. They are just ideas - you can cover any aspect of your choosing if you wish. Just make sure you have enough information that it is interesting and relevant, and suitable for your audience - other Year 9 students. Remember to read the instructions to make sure you have done the right thing. Ask any of your science teachers if you aren't sure.

Suggested timeline

  • By (end of) Monday evening:
    • Complete your preliminary research and decide which area or areas of environmental protection you are going to make your poster about. Find good sources online and use the library.
  • By (end of) Tuesday evening
    • Complete the majority of your research. Remember to keep a record as you go along. Fill in the references sheet.
  • By (end of) Wednesday evening
    • Begin putting this information into your poster. Write your three paragraphs and/or find your good quality images.
  • By (end of) Thursday evening
    • The last night for the project. Time to bring it all together.
      • Make sure you have answered the questions on the planning sheet.
      • Make sure you have five full references (either a mixture of books and websites or all of one kind) and have answered the question on the references sheet.
      • Finalise your project content and ensure it has a nice layout.
  • By (end of school on) Friday
    • Have your print out of your project somewhere safe ready to hand in to your teacher on Monday morning (lesson 2).

You are strongly discouraged from leaving any of these tasks to the weekend and it is expected you will have made arrangements to print off this homework for the deadline.
