Details for Summer Chemistry Exam for 2024, page updated on 15/04/2024

The Exam

Trilogy groups will sit a 75 minute paper.

You will all have a Periodic Table. 

You need a pen, pencil, eraser, ruler and calculator as a minimum.

Topics

All groups need to revise the following chapters:

• Chapter 1 - Fundamentals
• Chapter 2 - Periodic Table
• Chapter 3 - Structure and Bonding
• Chapter 4 - Quantitative Chemistry (20 out of the 70 marks are on this topic!)
• Chapter 5 - Chemical Changes
• Chapter 6 - Electrolysis - just electrolysis of aqueous solutions

Not on your exam:

• Chapter 7 - Energy Changes - you have not studied this yet.
• Chapter 11 - The Earth's Atmosphere - do not revise this topic!

10Ha and 10Hb need to prepare all work covered including the higher tier content. 

Tip: Understand the Command Words

The command words are things like "Describe" or "Use the data" or "Compare" or "Evaluate" or "Justify" which you find in the question you are being asked. Knowing what to do for these can help you to score more marks.
