This lesson covers material that is only examined on the higher tier paper (for both Trilogy and Separate Chemistry).  Therefore, you do not need to do it if you are in a Foundation Tier group.

Task 1:  Watch the following video and see if you can answer the questions at the end.

Task 2:

Read the sheet below.  Notice that the in the practical on the sheet, electrolysis is used to extract the copper from the copper sulfate solution rather than displacement.  Think about the advantages and disadvantages of each method.

In the first instance, just answer the questions that relate to the practical (those on pages 3 and 4 of the sheet.

Task 3:  Watch the following video clip and then answer the questions in the 'Student follow up' section of the sheet you used in task 2.

Task 4:  Answer the questions on the right hand side of the double page spread of the text book (p.167 - Trilogy or p.213 - Separate)

Task 5:  Do the Kerboodle interactive activity on extracting metals.
