Both Elizabeth College and The Ladies College use a product called Smoothwall to filter web content and monitor what users are accessing online. In order to access the internet at either school via a BYOD device, a digital certificate, which is specific to each school, needs to be installed on the device. The certificate allows the system to identify the student using the device and monitor / filter webpages whilst it’s connected to school WiFi, depending on their age. Smoothwall only monitors access whilst the device is connected to school WiFi. Devices will not be able to access online content properly without the certificate.
