What is DofE?
The DofE, or Duke of Edinburgh's Award, is a youth achievement program for individuals aged 14-24. There are three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, which participants can achieve by completing various activities that promote personal development and skills. The program aims to inspire young people to grow in confidence and navigate life successfully. Founded in 1956, it operates in over 140 countries and has transformed the lives of millions.
DofE at Elizabeth College
Students start the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in Year 9. Bronze expedition training is carried out in Year 9 during the Friday afternoon activity sessions. Students complete their qualifying expedition in Year 9 Investigation and Discovery week. Students should all be able to complete the Bronze Award by the end of Year 9 - however if not, they can continue into Year 10.
Bronze launch is scheduled to take place on Thursday 25th September, with the enrolment date set at Monday 6th October.
When students turn 16 they can register for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Gold expeditions can be completed in Year 11, 12 or 13.
